Because, to provide care, the LTC staff member should physically be near to residents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong><span style=\"color:#dd0055\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Staff shortage&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The LTC and nursing home industry of Canada is going through a severe labour shortage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And because of it, not all LTC home residents get quality care when they are in need.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#7b68ee\" class=\"has-inline-color\">The staff shortage is so severe that 38,500 seniors are on the waitlist for admission in long-term care facilities of Ontario.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#7b68ee\" class=\"has-inline-color\">And unfortunately, the staff problem is ever-growing as nurses and RPNs are leaving LTC homes and joining other healthcare entities.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poor pay and extreme working conditions are the major reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what GlobalNews reported recently.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1296\" height=\"739\" src=\"https:\/\/www.syscreations.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/New.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27128\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong><span style=\"color:#dd0055\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Overburdened LTC staff members<\/span><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Staff shortage leads to overburdened LTC staff. They are working many extra hours in an emotionally and medically challenging environment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, many staff members have reported mental health issues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#7b68ee\" class=\"has-inline-color\">The administrative and data entry work which is tedious and time-consuming eats up most of their time.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#7b68ee\" class=\"has-inline-color\">And this eventually results in delayed care because the LTC staff is busy with other administrative work!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>&nbsp;<span style=\"color:#dd0055\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Transfer of residents to the hospital<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If a hospitals, the virus transmission risk is at its peak for residents who are already having other medical complications.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, now when we discussed challenges, let\u2019s
